Our Ethos - Carol Bizzell
Teaching individuals to swim is a skill I developed many years ago. I always had a passion for swimming and joined a swimming club too as a child. My first coach was Ronnie Johns who was a Commercial Club Coach, and we swam at Centenary Pool. As I became an adult I swam with Horrie Clark at Somerset School. Our partnership lasted 13 years. He was a technical teacher and I decided to learn all I could from him. We attended many clinics and swim meets.
That brings us to now, and running my own swim school for the past 35 years. We encourage beginners to see that swimming is fun, non-threatening and achievable. We weave lifesaving skills throughout the swim lessons.
We focus on understanding balance, sculling activities, propulsion, using the push-off time, the use of flags, lane directions, formations and all four strokes.
Swimming has many parts and I can’t wait to share my passion with you to help you or your child be the best swimmer they can be.

Our aim for your primary school child is to develop good swimming skills, children need to be comfortable in the water, face and eyes in with or without goggles.
Floating and be turning their arms over i.e. freestyle. These children will be learning all 4 strokes and swimming with and without assistance to the 12.5m-(25m if confident) learning drills, proper technique.
If your child is fearful of the water / refuses to place their head and eyes in the water and holds onto a parent in the water with fear, these classes will not be suitable.
Saturday morning private classes 1:1 would be a recommendation to teach the child water safety and to ensure that we instil some confidence into the child around their swimming journey.
The child can attend a 3+ learn to swim lesson, these are run at different times, this will allow the child to gain some confidence in the water. Ensure to expose the child to water as much as possible, i.e. showers, so that the water can run over the child’s face, public / private pools where you allow the child to play in the water.

Carol Bizzell - Swim Instructor
Swimming has been a lifelong passion for me. I began my journey as a child with a swimming club, guided by my first coach, Ronnie Johns, at Centenary Pool. As I grew older, I trained with Horrie Clark at Somerset School, where our partnership lasted 13 years. Horrie’s technical expertise greatly influenced me, and together we attended numerous clinics and swim meets. For the past 35 years, I’ve run my own swim school, where we strive to make swimming enjoyable and accessible for beginners. Our approach integrates lifesaving skills into every lesson, ensuring that learning to swim is both fun and non-threatening. We focus on key aspects like balance, sculling, propulsion, effective push-offs, flag use, lane directions, and all four strokes. I’m excited to share my passion for swimming and help you or your child become the best swimmer possible.

Kelleigh Bizzell - Swim Instructor
Hi, I’m Kelleigh. I swam competitively in high school and competed in numerous triathlons throughout my junior years. My passion for swimming started early, training at Samford and under the guidance of Horrie Clarke, an exceptional coach who deeply influenced my understanding of stroke technique, drills, strength, and endurance.
Swimming has always been a family affair, with my mum, Carol, playing a pivotal role in my journey. Over the years, I assisted her at our pool, completed my qualifications, and worked alongside her on weekends and weekdays, helping young swimmers develop their skills.
Though my path led me to a Government job that didn’t allow for much flexibility, my passion for swimming never waned. Now, I’m excited to return to what I love most—working with my mum to teach children how to swim, refine their strokes, improve their times, and most importantly, gain confidence in the water.
